Reality TV star Kim Kardashian and boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. were summoned to the Central District Court of the US state of California on a claim for speculation with the EthereumMax cryptocurrency. The Wall Street Journal reports.
"Kim Kardashian and Floyd Mayweather Jr. are among the celebrities being sued for being the leading investors in cryptocurrency scams," the article said.
Celebrities are accused of advertising EthereumMax in order to create excitement in the market and make money on the sale of tokens, the magazine writes, citing the text of the lawsuit.
Mayweather advertised cryptocurrency during a boxing match, Kardashian on Instagram, the newspaper notes.
Earlier, Kardashian, who is currently pursuing a law degree, thanked Colorado Governor Jared Polis for mitigating the punishment for truck driver Rogel Aguilera-Mederos, who was convicted of a fatal accident.
Aguilera Mederos was involved in an accident in 2019 that killed four people and injured six. He insisted that faulty brakes were the cause of the accident. He was sentenced to 110 years in prison, Polis reduced this term to ten years.
