Russia - Thousands of prehistoric artifacts found in Tibet

Russia (bbabo.net), - China's National Cultural Heritage Administration for the first time showed artifacts discovered during the latest archaeological work in the Tibet Autonomous Region. Thousands of objects discovered there make it possible to fill the gap in prehistoric human activity that has existed until now.

According to the Xinhua news agency, the finds were made in southwestern China. They shed new light on prehistoric human activity in the region.

The fact is that the age of the artifacts is 8-10 thousand years, and this is exactly the period of time in which, as it was believed until now, there was no man on the Tibetan Plateau.

The "archaeological gap" has been an unsolvable mystery for experts. It was believed that there were two waves of settlement in Tibet. But where did people go about 10 thousand years ago, and where did they come from about eight thousand years ago - these questions remained unanswered.

And now it turns out that in fact the Tibetan Plateau was inhabited permanently. Artifacts discovered at a prehistoric site in Ngari prefecture point to this. Archaeologists have found continuous stratigraphic layers there and have unearthed over 5,000 different items. In particular, a large number of pottery items were found.

In addition, archaeologists have found relatively few animal bones and burnt stones, as well as fire pits and ash pits. Of course, ceramics attracts special attention. The analysis showed that prehistoric people knew two types of pottery manufacturing technology. This confirms the hypothesis that human activity in this region was still divided into two different historical periods. At the same time, it is now known that one culture replaced another smoothly, without a thousand-year break.
