The Ministry of Culture appealed to the Prosecutor General's Office because of a vandal-damaged painting by a student of Malevich

The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation sent an appeal to the Prosecutor General's Office with a demand to open a criminal case on the fact of damage to the painting "Three Figures" by Kazimir Malevich's student Anna Leporskaya, exhibited at the Yeltsin Center in Yekaterinburg, Interfax reports.

“In order to cancel the decision to refuse to initiate a criminal case on the fact of damage to the painting by Leporskaya A.A. "Three Figures" The Department of Museums and External Relations sent a complaint to the Prosecutor General's Office of Russia," the ministry said.

An unknown person added eyes to the figures depicted on the canvas with a pen. The painting was not varnished, and the ink got into the paint layer. In the Tretyakov Gallery, where the painting was brought from, the restoration was estimated at 250,000 rubles. The administration of the center appealed to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but the police refused to open a case, considering the damage to be insignificant.
