Russia - 276 films competed for the Oscars

Russia (bbabo.net), - As the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced, 276 films entered the 2022 Oscars campaign - 90 fewer than last year. Among them are "The House of Gucci", "West Side Story", "King Richard", "The Power of the Dog", "Spencer", "Don't Look Up", "Being Ricardo", "Belfast", "Dream High", "Encanto" and others.

Films competing for academic awards must comply with Academy Film Regulations, which were adjusted last year to accommodate theater closures during the pandemic crisis. According to these rules, feature films must have a running time of more than 40 minutes and be tested on the audience in a commercial cinema from March 1 to December 31, 2021 for at least one week. However, the right of the studio to show a film originally intended for screening in cinemas, on streaming services or the Video on Demand service is specifically stipulated, but members of the Academy must be able to view the film on a special secure site within 60 days after the streaming premiere.

In December, as you know, was published an interim list of nominees for "Oscar" in 10 categories. In the category of international feature films, the leaders are the Iranian "Hero", the Japanese drama "Drive My Car", the Italian sports film "God's Hand" and the animated film "Escape".

In the major categories, The Power of the Dog and West Side Story have the best Oscar chances, according to most observers, followed by The House of Gucci and Being Ricardo, with No Time to Die in third place.

Voting for nominees will take place from January 27 to February 1, a short list of nominees will be published on February 8, and the 94th Academy Awards ceremony will be held at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles on March 27. ABC broadcasting company provides live broadcasting to more than 200 territories of the world.
