The farewell ceremony for director and screenwriter Viktor Merezhko is taking place at the Central House of Cinematographers in Moscow, RIA Novosti reports.

Family members, friends and colleagues of Merezhko are present at the civil memorial service. In particular, the head of the Moscow City Duma Commission on Culture and Mass Communications Yevgeny Gerasimov, the president of the Guild of Screenwriters Alexei Levkovsky, the film director Vera Tokareva, the representative of the Rostov community in Moscow Irina Biryukova, and the stuntman Igor Panin came to say goodbye to him. “When a famous person leaves, they say: “The era is gone.” But what is behind this figure of speech? The era is not so much the people who personify it, the era is the stories that remained from it ... The stories that Viktor Merezhko invented largely determined the face of the era, the way we perceived it, and the way it will remain with us. The era of flights in a dream and in reality, ”Levkovsky shared his thoughts.

People's Artist of Russia Viktor Merezhko died on January 30 at the age of 85.

Earlier, artist Nikas Safronov recalled how Merezhko told him jokes in the hospital.
