Russia (bbabo.net), - Stormtrooper Il-2, on which Yusup Akaev, a native of Buynaksk, Hero of the Soviet Union, fought in the Great Patriotic War, will be sent for restoration. The corresponding order was given by the head of Dagestan Sergey Melikov.

"The plane was shot down in 1943, it was raised from the bottom of the Kerch Strait in 2016, after which the Russian Ministry of Defense handed over the attack aircraft to the museum in Buynaksk. However, this unique exhibit has not found a place in it so far," the head of the region wrote about this on Instagram .

According to the documents, Yusup Akayev's battle path began at the height of the Soviet offensive against Novorossiysk. For high skill and courage, a month after the start of the operation, the former Dagestan teacher becomes the commander of the 2nd squadron of the 47th assault naval aviation regiment.

"In deep darkness, detachments of Black Sea sailors land on the eastern shore of the Kerch Peninsula. It is necessary to ensure the supply of our landing force by sea. The Nazis are taking countermeasures. They are concentrating their naval forces, especially torpedo boats, in Feodosia and Kiik-Atlam. Now our paratroopers must come to the unit, in which Yusup Akaev serves, is given a combat mission: to destroy enemy watercraft in the ports of Feodosia and Kiik-Atlam and take the port of Feodosia," journalist Alexandra Puterbrot writes about the famous pilot.

During the battle on November 8, 1943, Yusup Akaev's plane was shot down by German anti-aircraft gunners. The pilot managed to land the Il-2 plane on the water 150 meters from Taman. The pilot and gunner-radio operator were rescued by Soviet sailors, but the plane sank to the bottom.

The attack aircraft was discovered by search divers in 2014, and two years later, with the help of military divers, it was recovered from a depth of six meters. The car was preserved in perfect condition - the personal weapons of the crew and even the wooden parts of the fuselage with tail number 4057 survived. After that, the fragments of the Il-2 aircraft were transferred to the Buynaksk Museum of Military Glory for eternal storage.

By August 1944, Akaev already had 104 sorties on his account. Under his command, attack aircraft destroyed four transports, seven high-speed landing barges, a minesweeper, a torpedo boat, a tanker, as well as three locomotives, 11 tanks, and 72 enemy vehicles.

For courage and heroism, a native of Buynaksk was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union. On November 19, 1949, the famous pilot died in Rostov-on-Don. An exact copy of the Il-2 attack aircraft, on which Yusup Akaev fought, is installed in the historical park "Russia - my history" in Makhachkala.
