Snoop Dogg bought out the label that launched his career

Rapper Snoop Dogg bought the label that launched his career, Death Row Records, from MNRK Music Group, according to the Hollywood reporter.

The amount of the transaction is not disclosed.

Founded in 1992 by Dr. Dre, Suge Knight, D.O.C. and Dick Griffey, Death Row was one of the most famous labels in the music industry for a whole decade. At various times, the studio had contacts with such famous performers as Snoop Dogg and Tupac Shakur.

However, in 2006 the studio filed for bankruptcy and three years later it was bought at an auction for $18 million by WIDEawake Entertainment. The label changed hands for a while and was eventually acquired by MNRK. Snoop Dogg believes that the brand has "tremendous" untapped value.

“It's nice to own a label that I was part of early in my career. This is an extremely important moment for me. I would like to personally thank the teams of Blackstone, MNRK and especially David Kestnbaum, who worked with me for several months to make this exciting homecoming a reality, ”said the musician.

It was previously reported that Snoop Dogg is launching his own brand of hot dogs called Snoop Doggs. For fans of the musician, his decision to launch a hot dog brand came as a surprise. In 2016, the rapper made front-page headlines after stating on The Jimmy Kimell Show that he would never eat this type of fast food. During the recording of the program, he was shown the step-by-step process of making hot dogs.
