Russia - A unique album of Crimean landscapes has been published

Russia (bbabo.net), - The Crimean branch of the Union of Artists of Russia (UCHR) released the album "Crimean landscape in the work of artists of different eras". The publication was the first of its kind in the post-Soviet history of the peninsula. The album consists of works by classic and contemporary artists from the 19th century to the present day.

One of the compilers of the album, its art editor, head of the Crimean branch of the Union of Artists Vasily Zheribor, half-jokingly says that the collection of material for publication took "thirty years and half a year."

- Over the many years of my work in various publishing houses in Moscow, Kharkov, Dnepropetrovsk, I have archived material, - he says. - In the 1990s, I filmed art works in museums, filmed works by contemporary Crimean artists - for example, I have a rich archive of reproductions of works by Valentina Tsvetkova, Pyotr Stolyarenko, Valentin Bernadsky. We tried to show as much as possible the landscapes of the artists who worked on our fertile land, their vision and understanding of the Crimea. By the way, we wanted to present reproductions of Ivan Aivazovsky's works. To do this, we turned to the Feodosiya Art Gallery three times with a request to either provide us with them or allow us, under certain conditions, to remove the works necessary for publication. But, alas, our letters remained unanswered.

At the same time, Zheribor expressed great gratitude to the Simferopol and Sevastopol art museums for the materials provided for publication. According to him, the landscape geography of the works included in the album is also wide.

- It has become a kind of artistic atlas of the peninsula, - says Vasily Ivanovich. - In the presented works - the southern coast, Sevastopol, Tarkhankut, Kerch, Feodosia, Sudak, Bakhchisarai, Evpatoria.

The publication was published at the expense of now living authors from the Crimea, members of the Union of Artists of Russia.

- The editorial board selected the works for the album very carefully, - Zheribor, who entered it, assures. - As for living authors, whose works are included in the publication, they are exclusively members of the Union of Artists of Russia, professional artists who have received education and devoted their whole lives to art.

Zheribor noted that he intends to donate the albums to at least the Crimean Republican

the universal scientific library named after Ivan Franko and the scientific library of the Central Museum of Taurida "Tavrika".

“It is our sacred duty,” he concluded.

Svetlana Glazunova, Deputy Director of the Simferopol Art Museum, art critic:

- Delight in the beauty of the Crimean landscape, first expressed in Russian academic painting of the 19th century, continues to live in the work of painters and graphic artists of the Crimea. Plein air painting of the era of European and Russian impressionism created a tradition of natural landscape with a new vision of composition, form and color, and it is continued in the contemporary art of the peninsula. The search for answers to the mysteries of life, expressed in landscape images, the special spiritualization of the Crimean land, so characteristic of Russian art in the first decades of the 20th century, have found their continuation in the work of many contemporary masters. The Crimean artistic horizon is wide, there is a place for tradition and discoveries.
