Kusturica admitted that he would ask for Russian citizenship

Serbian film director Emir Kusturica, who will become the chief director of the Central Academic Theater of the Russian Army, said it was too early for him to apply for Russian citizenship, adding that he would apply for it later. It is reported by TASS.

"It's very early. It will be later,” Kusturica said, answering a question from an agency journalist about the desire to obtain a Russian passport.

The fact that Kusturica accepted the offer of Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu to head the troupe of the Theater of the Russian Army became known on February 21. The director of the theater Ivan Chursin told .Ru the next day that the dates of the presentation of the new chief director to the actors and the signing of a contract with him have not yet been determined.

The chief director of the Taganka Theater Yuri Muravitsky, in turn, told .Ru that the invitation of Emir Kusturica to one of the leading positions of the Theater of the Russian Army causes him mixed feelings.
