The artistic director of the Mayakovsky Theater Mindaugas Karbauskis announced on Facebook that he was leaving his post.

"I'm leaving too," wrote the Lithuanian-born director, who has been in office since 2011. In an interview with RIA Novosti, the departure of Karbauskis was confirmed by the director of the theater Alexander Stulnev. “Mindaugas Karbauskis wrote a letter of resignation from the post of artistic director of his own free will,” he explained.

Earlier, director Rimas Tuminas commented on the demand of the Lithuanian authorities to leave the Vilnius Maly Theatre. According to Tuminas, who is the creator of the Vilnius Small Theater and until recently held the position of its artistic director, on February 9 he filed a letter of resignation. “I understand this reaction of the Minister of Culture of Lithuania as a member of the European Union and I am not offended,” he said.
