Latvian Foreign Ministry blacklisted Baskov

Latvian Foreign Minister Edgars Rinkevics announced that he blacklisted the People's Artist of Russia Nikolai Baskov for supporting "aggression against Ukraine." It is reported by TASS with reference to the politician's Twitter account.

“On the basis of Part 2 of Art. 61 of the Immigration Law, a citizen of the Russian Federation Nikolai Baskov is included in the list of undesirable persons of the Republic of Latvia. Propaganda for war and support for Russian aggression against Ukraine is unacceptable for Latvia,” the Latvian diplomat wrote.

Earlier, the head of European Union diplomacy, Josep Borrell, said that 26 Russian citizens were included in the new EU blacklist, which was approved on February 25 by the EU Council.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation to protect Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR.

Ukraine severed diplomatic relations with Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has submitted a bill on general mobilization to the Verkhovna Rada.
