In Moscow, at the age of 74, Soviet and Russian director, screenwriter and producer Andrei Malyukov died. His sister, director and actress Natalya Bondarchuk announced this on her Facebook page.

“Today my beloved cousin, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Andrei Malyukov, has passed away. Our mothers are sisters. We have one grandmother who raised us - the Siberian writer Anna German, ”Bondarchuk wrote.

She confirmed to TASS that Malyukov died from the effects of the coronavirus - before that he had "been very seriously ill" for about two years.

The actress added that the farewell to the director "will not be held due to the situation with the coronavirus." Information about the place of the funeral will not be specified.

Andrey Malyukov was born on January 6, 1948 in Novosibirsk. In 1971 he graduated from the directing department of VGIK.

He became the director of such films and TV series as "The Empire under attack", "We are from the future", "Spetsnaz", "Saboteur", "Thunderstorm Gates", "Lost". For many films, including "We are from the Future", the music was written by his nephew, the son of Natalia Bondarchuk.
