New film with DiCaprio criticized for negligence and simplification

The Netflix-streaming comedy Don't Look Up, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence, received a low rating on review-aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.

Adam McKay's film has been given 55% freshness so far. A film is considered to be successful if it scored more than 60% - that is, the number of positive reviews for it should significantly exceed half.

Joe Morgenstern of the Wall Street Journal wrote that the film's interesting idea is "squandered in a careless, messy presentation that turns almost everyone into slackers, simplifies everything it touches, oozes self-gratification, and itself becomes part of the babble and mumble that it makes fun of."

Sandra Hall of the Sydney Morning Herald regrets that every aspect of the dark humor surrounding the film's dark paradox remains unfulfilled. “I always wanted the film to fall into the hands of Armando Iannucci (Death of Stalin, Vice President), a satirist with all the talents to make it work,” she wrote.

The hero of DiCaprio is the astronomer Randall Mindy. He and his fellow scientist Keith (Jennifer Lawrence) find a comet heading straight for Earth and try to prove to people that humanity is in danger of death. It turns out to be difficult. The film also stars Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Tyler Perry, rapper Kid Cadi, Ariana Grande and others.

Earlier, the film's actors told how Leonardo DiCaprio saved two huskies on the set.
