Exhibition about the Stalag XVIII-D concentration camp in Slovenia will be held in Russian cities

An exhibition about the former concentration camp Stalag XVIII-D (Stalag XVIII-D), which was located in the Slovenian city of Maribor, will be held in 2022 in St. Petersburg and Volgograd. More than 5 thousand Soviet prisoners of war died in the camp due to the inhuman conditions of detention. TASS reports.

The director of the International Research Center of World War II Maribor, Janez Ujčić, said that the exposition about the Stalag XVIII-D concentration camp, which was opened in May at the Victory Museum in Moscow, will also be presented in St. Petersburg and Volgograd in 2022.

Next year, together with the Victory Museum, it is planned to implement two projects.

The first is an exhibition featuring images of famous fighters against fascism and for freedom, including partisans from various countries, including the former Yugoslavia. Students will write stories about the heroes of the war, Ujčić added, and the most interesting stories will be selected at the end of the year. They will be exhibited in the museum.

Another project is the School of History, where classes for young students and alumni will be held during the week.

On December 17, the National Liberation Museum of the city of Maribor in Slovenia and the International Research Center of World War II Maribor signed a long-term cooperation agreement.

Earlier, a man known as Josef S., charged with 3518 violent crimes while working in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp, stated that he did not know about the existence of the death camp.

It was also reported that an Arizona prison is going to execute prisoners with gas from Auschwitz.
