Renat Bekkin: “Ak Bure. Crimean Tatar saga

In December of this year, a book by the Russian writer, orientalist and public figure Renat Bekkin “Ak Bure. Crimean Tatar Saga ".

In a work with a meaningful title, there are several plot lines at once: the story of the Crimean Tatar family in three generations, the other in Kazan, where the main character falls, and the third is the history of the national movement of the Crimean Tatars, the story of the hero's father.

The novel tells about the life of a family, intertwined with the most important events in the history of Russia and Crimea, in particular: the Great Patriotic War, the deportation of the Crimean Tatars and their struggle to return to their homeland, as well as the "Russian spring" of 2014.

The publication can be attributed to both an action-packed adventure novel and a documentary story, which tells about the events of the recent past.

The novel takes place in Tashkent, Kazan, Moscow and Crimea. One of the key characters, Iskander, the younger representative of the Ismailov family, will have to figure out who his father really was, who was an active participant in the Crimean Tatars' national movement in the past: a romantic and a hero, or a traitor and a coward. But, solving one mystery, the hero is faced with another. His whole future life depends on the solution of a new riddle.

In the introduction from the author, Renat Bekkin expressed gratitude to everyone who read the manuscript and expressed their sometimes very strict comments.

“While working on the text, I had to get closely acquainted with the Crimean Tatar political cuisine. From the abundance and variety of dishes present there, I almost got indigestion. Fortunately, the publisher and publicist Ayder Emirov came to my aid. His explanations concerning the history of the national movement of the Crimean Tatars helped me to make the novel more authentic, ”Bekkin writes.

The publication of the book is timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Crimean Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic and was carried out with the financial support of the International Chodiev Foundation.

Renat Bekkin is known for his previously published books, including the novel “ Islam from the monk Bagheera ”, as well as monographs and articles on the topic of Islamic economics.
