Moldova - National Bureau of Statistics: consumer prices increased by 13.94% over the year

Moldova (bbabo.net), - Average consumer prices in December 2021 compared to December 2020 (over the last 12 months) increased by 13.94% According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), on average food prices have increased by 17.46%, non-food products - by 12.06% and services provided to the population - by 11.59%, reports noi.md

Average consumer prices in December 2021 increased by 1.66% compared to November 2021 (for reference: in December 2020 compared to November 2020, they increased by 0.32%).

The growth in average consumer prices was due to an increase in food prices by 2.22%, for non-food products - by 1.07% and for services rendered to the population - by 1.72%.

In December 2021, compared to November 2021, prices increased, in particular, for the following food products:

fresh grapes - by 10.1%,

beef - by 4.9%,

wheat flour bread - by 4.5%,

chicken eggs - 4.3%,

cookies and gingerbread - 3.4%,

potatoes - 2.6%,

vegetables - 2.5% (including cabbage - 13.1%, dried onions - 7.8%, fresh mushrooms - 5.7%, root vegetables - 5.3%, garlic - 3.7%),

milk and dairy products - 2.5% (including semi-skimmed milk and whole milk cheese - 5.2% and 2.3%, respectively, cottage cheese - 3.1%, cream and whipped cream - 2.4%, fermented milk products - 1.5%),

sugar - 2.4%

rice, pasta, noodles, bread crumbs and pretzels, rye bread and other bread, chocolate, chocolates and other cocoa products, natural and instant coffee, butter, fresh fish, pork, poultry, salt, mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar - up to 2%.

At the same time, in the reporting period, price reductions were recorded for:

citrus fruits - by 6.6%,

cucumbers - by 5.4%,

tomatoes - by 4.1%,

exotic fruits - by 2.7%.

If we talk about non-food products, then in December 2021, compared to November 2021, a more significant increase in prices occurred for:

coal - by 7.2%,

plants and flowers - by 6.7%,

firewood - by 5.3%,

furniture and household appliances - 2.2%,

materials for the maintenance and repair of dwellings - 1.8%,

boots, shoes and other footwear - 1.7%,

large household clothing and equipment, electrical and non-electrical - 1.5% each.

At the same time, in December 2021, compared to November 2021, there was a slight decrease in prices for diesel fuel - by 6.5%, gasoline - by 4.7%, liquefied gas, bottled gas - by 2.6%.

For services provided to the population, in December 2021 compared to November 2021, there was an increase in prices for training courses for obtaining a driver's license - by 29.6%, furniture and furniture repair services - by 9.2%, taxi services for transportation passengers - by 6.6%, catering services - by 2.8%.
