Almaty airport returned to work

Alma-Ata airport returned to work after the attack during the riots, Interfax reports.

“From January 13, 2022, Almaty International Airport resumes operation. According to preliminary information from the airport management, domestic and international flights will be operated from 8.00 to 21.00 hours according to the time of the airline's flight schedule," the Civil Aviation Committee of Kazakhstan said in a statement.

The Alma-Ata airport was attacked on the night of January 5-6, during the riots, looters looted cafes, shops and ticket sales points, as well as smashed windows and shop windows inside the air harbor.

Earlier it became known that international flights at the airport of Almaty will not be served yet.

On January 9, it became known that the Alma-Ata airport was closed for an indefinite period. Several hundred Russians turned to the Russian Foreign Ministry with a request to be taken out of Kazakhstan. Most of the appeals came from Alma-Ata.
