IMF urged to prepare for economic shocks in 2022

The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, said that in 2022 the countries of the world should prepare for new economic shocks, TASS reports.

“We must be prepared for the fact that there may be more shocks,” Georgieva said.

The IMF believes that in 2022 the pace of economic recovery around the world will slow down, while more countries will be forced to turn to the fund for loans.

Georgieva believes that one of the reasons for this is the tightening of monetary policy by national central banks.

In addition, Georgieva warned of unrest in different countries due to economic shocks.

Earlier, the IMF called Russia's macroeconomic position the best in the world.

In mid-October, the director of the European department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Alfred Kammer, said that Russia's economic policy in the context of the pandemic has led to a high recovery rate. He noted that the country faced "relatively shallow" recessions in 2020 and showed a rapid recovery in 2021.
