Ireland: Central Statistics Office's figures show big rise in new vehicle registrations

The number of new vehicles registered during March increased by 48%, compared to March last year, according to new figures from the Central Statistics Office.

The CSO numbers show the biggest rise was for goods vehicles - up 56%.
There were more than 17,000 new private cars registered - an increase of 49% on March last year.

The most popular brands were Volkswagen at 12%, Hyundai and Nissan (both at 11%), Toyota at 9% and Ford at 8%.
