The deputy believes that the exchange rate of the American currency may fall sharply due to the aggravation of relations between Russia and the West.

“It may turn out that relations between NATO, the United States and Russia will sharply worsen. This can lead to the fact that the dollar will lose its former value, ”the politician said.

He also recommended that the Russians keep their money in rubles, as the Russian Federation could be “disconnected” from the dollar due to the aggravation of the political situation. According to Zhirinovsky, if this happens, the US currency will "perish".

Earlier, US President Joe Biden said that the imposition of sanctions against Russia, related to the ban on Russian banks to conduct transactions in dollars, would negatively affect the economies of Western countries.

Prior to this, it became known that US senators from the Democratic Party of the United States submitted to the Senate a bill providing for sanctions against eleven Russian banks, including the largest ones, in the event of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Sanctioned financial institutions may lose access to systems such as SWIFT.

At the same time, Handelsblatt, citing government sources, reported that the US and the EU had changed their minds about disconnecting Russia from SWIFT as sanctions.
