Producers of alcohol warned about the risks of rising prices

Alcohol producers and restaurateurs sent a collective letter to Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, in which they asked to exclude the introduction of the “Honest Sign” label in the alcohol sector, which could lead to an increase in prices for their products. It is reported by RBC.

The publication notes that in an appeal to Mishustin, representatives of the alcohol industry emphasized that their products, with the exception of beer drinks, are already marked with special federal marks and recorded in the Unified State Automated Information System for recording the volume of production and turnover of ethyl alcohol, alcoholic and alcohol-containing products .

“The introduction of additional labeling, the authors of the letter are sure, will significantly increase the burden on producers and importers of alcoholic beverages, which will lead to higher prices. And this, in turn, will force consumers to look for cheap alcohol substitutes in the illegal market, ”the publication says.

Earlier, Pavel Shapkin, chairman of the National Union for the Protection of Consumer Rights, head of the National Alcohol Policy Development Center, believes that new GOSTs for alcohol may lead to an increase in the price of alcoholic products and, possibly, to its shortage.
