According to him, the new forest was planted on the territory of more than one million hectares.

Despite the successful performance of last year, Russian forests need to restore large areas, the minister said. “I would like to note that we want to not just plant, but grow, bring to the age of a mature forest. This task is much more difficult than just planting,” he added (quoted by TASS).

Kozlov emphasized that Russia should become a carbon-neutral country by 2060. For this purpose, a low-carbon development strategy was previously approved, which implies a doubling of the absorption capacity of forests.
