The former head of Naftogaz spoke about the “catastrophic mistake” of Ukraine

The management of Naftogaz made a "catastrophic mistake" and did not purchase gas for the heating season on time. This was stated in an interview with Forbes.ua by the former head of the company Andrey Kobolev.

According to him, Naftogaz may soon become bankrupt, which will start asking for money from the state budget. When asked if Ukraine would have enough gas until the end of winter, the ex-head of the company replied that it would depend on weather conditions.

Naftogaz has now started importing gas, despite all the talk that there is enough gas. The big risk zone is March,” he specified.

Earlier, the country's Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said that Ukraine had found new gas suppliers: the country could import it from Slovakia and Hungary to form reserves for the next heating season. He believes that Ukraine can import gas from Slovakia and Hungary in the amount of 50 million cubic meters per day, of which 42 million are accounted for by Slovakia and 8 million cubic meters by Hungary. This volume is enough to fill the Ukrainian storage facilities for the next season.
