In Vienna, they talked about attempts to influence Austria on the issue of Nord Stream 2

Austrian Minister of Digitalization and Economy Margarethe Schrambeck said on the ORF2 TV channel that some countries want Vienna to abandon the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.

According to her, Austria will not take such a step, since the state has invested a lot of money in the gas pipeline through the Austrian oil and gas company OMV.

Schrambeck added that foreign states must abide by the international rule of law.

“Therefore, if there is no invasion (of Russia into Ukraine - approx.), then, in our opinion, Nord Stream 2 should, of course, be put into operation,” the minister stressed.

Earlier, Austrian Foreign Minister Alexander Schallenberg called for the use of other levers for sanctions against the Russian Federation instead of Nord Stream 2.

Nord Stream 2 is a two-line gas pipeline. The length of each of them is 1.2 thousand km. They run from the port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad region) to the German Greifswald. The total capacity of the gas pipeline will be 55 billion cubic meters. m of gas per year.
