Germany urged to negotiate with Russia on increasing gas supplies

German political scientist Alexander Rahr urged Germany to negotiate with Russia to increase gas supplies.

He recalled that Germany will completely abandon nuclear energy and reduce coal consumption this year.

“Capacities should be expanded through gas, including gas-fired power plants, which will also be converted to hydrogen. Russia remains our main gas supplier. So we need to negotiate with Russia,” he wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, a representative of the German Ministry of Economy said that the situation with gas reserves in the country's storage facilities is a cause for concern. At the beginning of February, the level of gas filling of German storage facilities was 35-36%. It was also reported that the decision to increase fuel supplies is a market issue and does not depend on the state.
