Russia (bbabo.net), - Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk held a meeting of the co-chairs of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the Russian Federation and Tajikistan together with the Prime Minister of Tajikistan Kokhir Rasulzoda. The parties discussed measures for the further development of trade and economic cooperation between the countries, interaction in the field of industry, energy, agriculture, mass communications, interregional cooperation and partnership in the cultural and humanitarian sphere.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of bilateral cooperation raised during the meeting of the presidents of the countries at the end of last year. The course of implementation of the agreements reached at the 17th meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation was also considered. Alexey Overchuk stressed that Russia and Tajikistan are long-standing strategic partners and are interested in a wide-ranging dialogue.
"We cooperate closely in many areas, and this is a natural consequence of active trade operations, diversified industrial ties and joint economic interests. In April 2022, we plan to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Russia and Tajikistan. This is a certain milestone that allows us to sum up our interaction, including in the economic part, where Russia is one of the leading trade and economic partners of Tajikistan. The volume of Russian accumulated investments in the economy of the republic is 1.6 billion US dollars. There are about 300 enterprises with Russian participation in Tajikistan. And we are taking steps to consolidate such positive dynamics," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
The prospects for further deepening and continuation of interaction between the regions were also noted. "We have a good potential for the development of interregional dialogue in a wide range of economic sectors. Trade and economic relations with Tajikistan are supported by about 60 constituent entities of the Russian Federation," Alexey Overchuk said. He called the practice of holding conferences on interregional cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan an effective tool for expanding interaction at the regional level.
Cooperation between Russia and Tajikistan in the cultural and humanitarian sphere was noted as an important component of bilateral relations. Particular attention during the discussion of this issue was paid to the progress of the project for the construction of five schools in Tajikistan with teaching in Russian, the start of education in which is scheduled for September this year. Overchuk noted that the countries also maintain positive dynamics in the development of Russian-Tajik cultural cooperation. Among the key events was the holding of the Days of Russian Culture in Tajikistan, held with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of Tajikistan.
