Russia - MTS responded to FAS claims due to tariff increase

Russia (bbabo.net), - MTS responded to the claims of the FAS due to an unreasonable increase in the cost of services. According to a representative of the mobile operator, Russian operators are forced to adjust tariffs due to rising inflation, the cost of equipment and its delivery, rising electricity costs, the need to invest in expanding and building new networks, and so on.

"MTS will provide the service with all the necessary clarifications," said Alexei Merkutov, MTS spokesman. "We informed about the changes in advance and in the most detailed format so that subscribers can choose whether to stay at the current tariff or switch to another tariff or subscription."

In addition, Merkutov added that Russian operators are forced to adjust tariffs due to rising inflation, the cost of equipment and its delivery, rising electricity costs, the need to invest in expanding and building new networks, and so on. "Even taking into account the changes, communication and mobile Internet services in Russia remain cheap and accessible to everyone," he stressed.

Earlier, the Federal Antimonopoly Service initiated a case against MTS due to an unreasonable increase in tariffs. As noted in the department, in January the company increased tariffs by an average of 9.5%. According to the FAS, the price increase affected 28 million subscribers.
