Director of the RUSSTRAT Institute, political scientist Elena Panina said that the rejection of Nord Stream 2 would be the end of the European Union's independence from the United States, RIA Novosti reports.

The reason for the refusal of the gas pipeline, obviously, is a reaction to Russia's recognition of the DPR and LPR, but the underlying reason was the infantilism of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

“However, if Zelensky’s actions did not bring any new features to his image and were predictable, then the steps taken by European leaders have significantly changed our perceptions of them. If before we could talk about principled, but adequate opponents, today we see politicians who completely destroy the economic sovereignty of Europe, turn it into a US colony, ”Panina said.

Earlier in Germany, the imposition of sanctions against the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was called suicide.
