Russia - Senators approved the law on the indexation of military pensions

Russia (bbabo.net), - Senators supported the government's law on the indexation of military pensions above inflation - by 8.6 percent. Earlier, the same decision was made regarding payments to civil non-working pensioners. The head of the Federation Council, Valentina Matvienko, stressed that the decision is being made on the eve of Defender of the Fatherland Day.

Initially, it was planned to increase military pensions by 4 percent in January and to the same level in October this year, but this is less than the actual inflation for 2021 (8.4 percent). Therefore, Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation on January 21, proposed to index payments to the military by 8.6 percent. As in the case of civil pensions, the law will come into effect retroactively - from January 1, 2022. Pensions already paid will be compensated.

Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko recalled that the senators promised to approve the law on advanced indexation of military pensions as soon as the State Duma adopts it. “That is why we decided to gather for another meeting in order to make such a gift to military pensioners and the military in general on Defender of the Fatherland Day,” she said and thanked her colleagues for responding to the proposal to hold another meeting. The head of the Federation Council also expressed her gratitude to the deputy ministers of finance and defense present at the meeting - for the prompt work on the document. "It is pleasant and sincere to adopt such laws," she concluded.
