Russia (bbabo.net), - Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov instructed to begin preparations for receiving water through the system of the North Crimean Canal. He wrote about this pages in social networks.

“Looks like we won’t need desalination plants,” Aksyonov wrote. - I gave the command to the Chairman of the State Committee for Water Management and Land Reclamation of the Republic of Crimea Igor Vail to prepare the North Crimean Canal for water intake.

Earlier, the authorities of the peninsula considered the possibility of building a desalination station in Yalta, as well as extracting fresh water from under the bottom of the Sea of ​​Azov. Meanwhile, after heavy rainfall last winter, the reservoirs of the peninsula are almost 80 percent full.

The North Crimean Canal was blocked by Ukraine in the spring of 2014. In August 2021, the Investigative Committee of Russia, for the first time in the history of the state, opened a criminal case on the fact of ecocide under Article 358 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. In turn, the working group of the State Council of Crimea estimated at 1.4 trillion rubles the damage to the republican and local budgets, as well as to the sanatorium-resort and tourism sectors as a result of the blocking of the SCC by Ukraine.
