Ukraine called on the United States to direct maximum influence to disconnect Russia from SWIFT

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba called on US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken to influence European countries that doubt the need to disconnect Russia from the SWIFT international payment system. This was reported on the politician's Twitter account.

“[Had] Another conversation with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken regarding the importance of maximizing US influence on some hesitant European countries and disconnecting the Russian Federation from SWIFT,” Kuleba wrote.

The minister added that in addition to SWIFT, he spoke with the head of the State Department about the supply of defensive weapons to Kiev.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that the ban on Russian financial institutions from using the SWIFT system was not included in the next package of anti-Russian sanctions imposed by the European Union.

After that, German Foreign Minister Annalena Berbock urged to keep a cool head when discussing Russia's disconnection from SWIFT.
