The government has prepared proposals for capital amnesty

The government has prepared proposals for a significant capital amnesty. This was announced at a government meeting by Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.

“We have also prepared proposals for a larger capital amnesty. Larger than it was undertaken in 2015, 2018 and 2019,” he said.

According to him, the government and the Central Bank are making joint efforts to strengthen financial stability.

From February 28, the Central Bank decided to raise the key rate by 10.5 percentage points, to 20% per annum. Financiers consider the regulator's actions to be quite reasonable and expected against the backdrop of the geopolitical situation.

As the regulator clarified, raising the key rate will ensure an increase in deposit rates to levels that will compensate for the increased risks of ruble devaluation and rising prices.

On February 24, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he had decided to conduct a military special operation in the Donbass in response to a request for help from the heads of the LPR and DPR. The decision to conduct the operation was the reason for new sanctions against Russia by the United States and its allies.
