The US Treasury Department issued a statement noting that US authorities have imposed sanctions on the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and its head Kirill Dmitriev, RIA Novosti reports.

“At the direction of (U.S. President Joe) Biden, the Office of Foreign Assets Control last week imposed sanctions on the Russian Direct Investment Fund and its chief executive officer, Kirill Dmitriev, a well-known ally of (Russian President Vladimir) Putin,” the agency said.

The United States has already imposed sanctions against Putin, Lavrov, Shoigu, as well as other members of the Russian Security Council.

A similar decision was made by the European Union. The EU also introduced restrictive measures against Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev and Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev. In addition, the sanctions list includes a number of Russian defense enterprises, including the Kalashnikov, Almaz-Antey and Sirius concerns.
