Fiji market vendors stand for change

More than 100 market vendors from Ba, Rakiraki and Tavua, Republic of Fiji, have taken a stand to bring change to their workplace by completing a series of Getting Started workshops under the Markets for Change project.
The project was a UN program implemented by UN Women and UNDP with principal funding from the Australian Government.
The vendors received certificates from Fiji Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Rosy Akbar for completing the series of workshops, aimed at helping vendors make positive changes in the marketplace.
“To help address some of the barriers, the Getting Started workshops focus on how vendors can build and maintain democratic organisations that effectively represent all their members,” UN Women said.
