Thailand decided to close all provinces to tourists except Phuket

Thailand temporarily closes all provinces of the country for tourists, except Phuket, from December 22, 2021. This is reported by the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR).

Foreign tourists coming to Thailand under the Sandbox program will no longer be able to apply for a Thailand Pass entry permit, that is, without quarantine. The only exception was Phuket.

Other provinces of Thailand can be opened for visiting only if tourists pass mandatory quarantine in a hotel room.

Passengers arriving in Thailand under the Test & Go and Sandbox program will have to undergo a second COVID-19 PCR test, rather than an antigen self-test. Moreover, this can be done free of charge in those institutions designated by the government.

Tour operators believe that the innovation will practically not affect the flow of tourists from Russia, since most tourists fly to Phuket.

By mid-November, Russians began to complain en masse about difficulties registering with the ThaiPass system. This is due to the fact that from November 1, all arriving in Thailand must submit the necessary documents online.
