The Naftogaz company imported 77% of the total gas supplies to the country, said the head of the company, Yuriy Vitrenko, during a press conference broadcast by the Nash TV channel.

“We spent 86 billion hryvnia on this. In fact, since June, only Naftogaz has been importing gas, - said the head of Naftogaz.

Earlier, Vitrenko said that the company is forced to buy gas at any price, since its own production is not enough, and they intend to raise funds on international markets.

And before that, he noted that Ukraine will lose about $ 2 billion a year if Nord Stream 2 is launched, which is equivalent to about one and a half percent of the country's GDP.

In "Naftogaz" reported that now the largest gas fields in Ukraine are devastated by 80%. The company said that they are working to increase their own production of "blue fuel", for this they use new technologies and management approaches, study and develop promising subsoil areas.

On December 22, Naftogaz Ukrainy complained to the European Commission about the Russian Gazprom. The Ukrainian side stated that it was Gazprom that was to blame for the fact that gas on European exchanges had risen in price at a record and continues to grow in price. Naftogaz asked the European Commission to oblige the Russian company to sell more gas through Ukraine.
