In Russia, a 20% increase in labor productivity will free up 1 million builders

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin said that a 20% increase in labor productivity in the construction industry, which is experiencing a shortage of personnel, would help free 1 million workers. The official said this in an interview with Andrei Vandenko as part of the TASS special project "First persons".

According to Khusnullin, with the help of digitalization, you can spend a little effort, and get an effect that radically changes the entire industry.

According to the deputy prime minister's calculations, if labor productivity is increased by 10%, then it will be possible to do without half a million people at construction sites, while productivity grows by 20% - without a million.

According to Khusnullin, the labor shortage is one of the main constraints in the economy.

“There is money, we have opened up opportunities, we have launched programs, but there are no people in the required amount,” the Deputy Prime Minister described the situation.

The official also spoke about plans to cut bureaucratic costs. “If we cut the workflow by a third, this will add 2 trillion rubles a year to the construction economy,” Khusnullin said.

Earlier, Khusnullin opposed the proposal of the head of the RF Ministry of Defense Sergei Shoigu to build new cities in Siberia.

The impact of labor migration on the labor market was also assessed in Russia. Internal and external migration in Russia has practically no effect on the unemployment rate in the country. It is noted that the influx of migrants increases economic activity in the regions.
