Khusnullin named the main threat to the construction industry

The number one threat to the construction industry in Russia is the rising cost of materials. Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin stated this in an interview with Vedomosti.

He warned that all construction participants in Russia are now in such a risk zone that if the price continues to grow by 15%, 20% or more, then the already launched construction programs will have to be cut accordingly.

At the same time, Khusnullin noted that if the running construction projects are stopped, the consequences will be very bad.

The Deputy Prime Minister indicated that this will lead to the fact that social facilities will be mothballed.

He also recalled that 8.5 million people are currently employed in construction, another 5 million in related industries, the construction industry brings the country 15-17% of GDP.

Khusnullin added that now the task of filling the market with housing is being solved, due to this, the economy is accelerating.

The deputy prime minister also said that a 20% increase in labor productivity in the understaffed construction industry would help release 1 million workers.
