The filling of the second string of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was completed today, December 29, at 12.58 Moscow time. This was stated by the chairman of the board of "Gazprom" Alexey Miller at a meeting with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, reports RIA "Novosti".
Miller added that Nord Stream 2 is fully operational.
Putin, in turn, noted that the gas pipeline will serve to stabilize prices in the European market.
“This is undoubtedly, this new route, an additional one, will serve to resolve the issue of stabilizing prices in the European market,” Putin said at a meeting on the passage of the heating season, ”the Russian leader emphasized.
Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak spoke about the timing of the completion of the certification of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline. He stated that the maximum period when the certification of the project should be completed is the end of the first half of 2022. Novak hopes that Europe will not put forward new demands for the launch of the pipeline, politicizing the project.
Nord Stream 2 envisaged the construction of two strings of a gas pipeline with a total capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas per year from the Russian coast through the Baltic Sea to Germany - from the port of Ust-Luga in the Leningrad Region to Greifswald.
