Reform of producers' responsibility for garbage postponed in Russia

The Russian government has postponed the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) reform for the disposal of goods and packaging to 2023. This was told in the office of Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko RBC.

At this stage, the Cabinet of Ministers has already developed a new version of the bill on extended business responsibility for garbage. From 2023, it is assumed that manufacturers will dispose of all packaging and a gradual increase in the rate of disposal of all goods by at least 10% annually.

If the company refuses such conditions, it will be forced to pay an eco-fee.

Earlier, investors asked President Vladimir Putin to remove the ban on the payment of dividends for non-payment of the eco-tax. The Association of Professional Investors (IPA) sent a letter to the head of state with a proposal to remove the ban on declaring and paying dividends to joint-stock companies that have not paid compensation payments for environmental pollution.
