Russia - Natalya Sergunina: An unmanned bus for park zones was tested at VDNKh

Russia (bbabo.net), - An unmanned bus for park areas was tested at VDNKh, the development belongs to the Moscow Polytechnic University - a member of the Moscow Innovation Cluster, said the Deputy Mayor of the capital Natalya Sergunina. Testing made it possible to improve the algorithms of movement in the daytime and in the evening, to teach neural networks to take into account obstacles on the way.

“Innovations are changing life in megalopolises, making infrastructure more convenient and modern. Among the promising developments in the field of urban mobility, in addition to air transport, are artificial intelligence technologies. They are already being tested in Moscow. One of these projects was successfully tested at Technograd at VDNKh. It's about a compact unmanned bus designed for park areas, "said Sergunina.

Experts from the Moscow Innovation Cluster helped the developers to find a convenient site for testing the drone. The Smart Shuttle is electrically powered. It is designed for four passengers, equipped with cameras, radars, global positioning system, ultrasonic sensors. The closed wheel arches make it as safe as possible for pedestrians. Maneuverability and small dimensions allow the shuttle to be used as a park sightseeing bus or taxi.

During testing at VDNKh, the mechanisms for making decisions about movement and stopping, avoiding obstacles were improved, and the resource capabilities of the drone were tested. Experts analyzed how sensors and cameras work, including at night, accumulated the necessary information for additional training of neural networks, worked out algorithms responsible for autonomous movement and operating on the basis of data from GPS / GLONASS sensors.

The test results will help improve ride comfort and improve all key features - from ride and obstacle detection to autonomy.
