The dollar may rise against the background of the situation in Kazakhstan

Independent expert Sergei Drozdov said that the dollar against the ruble could jump to 80 rubles if geopolitical risks in Kazakhstan intensify, in particular, if Russia is forced to provide assistance within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. This was reported by RIA Novosti.

The analyst stressed that after media reports about the appeal of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomat Tabaev to the CSTO for help, the ruble began to fall, and investors began to get rid of the shares of Russian companies.

“We have obligations between the countries that have signed the CSTO, and we will be obliged to help. And we already have difficult negotiations ahead with the United States, with NATO countries. Speculatively, the ruble may continue to fall on geopolitical risks. After the dollar overcomes the level of 76.5 rubles, the next levels may become 78 rubles per dollar and 80 rubles per dollar. Accordingly, the euro exchange rate as a cross-rate can also grow, ”Drozdov said.

Earlier, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that in connection with the appeal of the President of Kazakhstan, he decided to send the collective peacekeeping forces of the CSTO to the republic in order to stabilize and normalize the situation.

In Kazakhstan, protests continue, which began on January 2 in the city of Zhanaozen, Mangistau region, after the price per liter of liquefied gas increased to 120 tenge (about 21 rubles). Before that, the price for a liter of gas was 60 tenge. Two days later, clashes between protesters and the police and the military began in Almaty and a number of other cities. Clashes also took place in Aktobe, Taraz, Aktau and other settlements.
