Moldova (bbabo.net) - Our country may face a new energy crisis as a result of an increase in the purchase price of natural gas. Energy expert Victor Parlicov noted that this crisis is also associated with the ineffectiveness of monthly price regulation, as they change and increase from day to day, reports trm.md

“The price increase in January is solely due to the spot price for natural gas. Previously, the approach to regulating energy prices was more predictable. In what sense? Prices were quarterly, now they change every month.

Moreover, Gazprom allowed situations when certain non-payments for gas accumulate due to the fact that the tariff does not fully cover the gas price, but after adjusting the tariff through the mechanism of tariff deviations, this money was included in the tariff and returned in subsequent periods. Now every month Gazprom keeps us under the threat of limiting or stopping supplies to Moldova in case of non-payment for the current month, ”noted energy expert Victor Parlicov.

In this regard, Parlikov argues that it is necessary to revise the conditions for the purchase of gas, as well as to look for alternative sources of natural gas supplies.

“The terms of the contract, which are at least related to outages, should be revised. They don't have to be monthly. There must be a limit to patience. Secondly, we need to look for alternatives. We need to look for suppliers who are ready to supply gas on the basis of long-term contracts, even if these are volumes that cannot be compared with Gazprom, ”Parlikov said.
