Russia (bbabo.net), - World water shortage due to climate change and water pollution could lead to a global water crisis. This was stated at a government meeting by Deputy Prime Minister Victoria Abramchenko.

"Clean drinking water has become one of the most valuable resources in the world, and its shortage in the future could lead to a global water crisis," the official said.

The Deputy Prime Minister also added that surface waters are not protected from pollution and are subject to the influence of climate change.

Abramchenko said that by 2024 Russia will create a unified water register of drinking water sources. We are talking about both underground and surface sources. This is part of the Geology: Revival of a Legend initiative, for which 31.6 billion rubles have been allocated in the budget for the next three years (more than 10 billion for 2022).

"To solve the problem of water shortage in 11 regions of our country in 2024, we plan to double the growth of groundwater reserves and prepare 12 areas for licensing. In 2022, in all 11 regions, we will already start drilling exploratory wells for water," the Vice prime minister (quote from Interfax).

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin announced the results of a study of fresh water found under the Sea of ​​Azov. According to experts, it is slightly mineralized, but during processing it can be used as drinking water.
