Russia and the CIS (bbabo.net) - More than 500 events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chechen Republic are planned in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation and abroad. This was announced at the first meeting of the organizing committee for the preparation and holding of the anniversary.
The Chechen Autonomous Region was formed on November 30, 1922 from the Chechen National District of the Mountain ASSR. The city of Grozny became the center of the region. In 1934, the Chechen and Ingush autonomies were united into the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Region, which in 1936 was transformed into the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic.
"The formation of the Chechen region has played a positive role in the further development of national statehood in the political history of the Chechen people, the further formation of an independent unit in economic and cultural terms within the Russian state. According to the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Chechen autonomy is an important historical date in the modern history of the Chechen people and it must be approached with all responsibility.
Kadyrov recalled that, on his behalf, a large-scale documenting of important historical stages in the life of the republic is being carried out in the region. “In addition, we have an effective state commission for the study and preservation of the historical and cultural heritage of the peoples of the Chechen Republic. The results of the work allow us to stop any speculations on this topic right now,” the head of the republic said.
