Russia (bbabo.net), - The Accounts Chamber has published a collection of best practices and initiatives for evidence-based management decision-making. These are approaches that are being developed or are already being applied by the authorities, which are based on scientific research methods, the press service of the Accounts Chamber reported.

The collection includes the works of the winners of the first evidence-based policy competition, which took place in 2021. More than 40 teams of state and municipal officials from all over the country took part in it.

The winners were selected in three nominations: modeling, impact assessment and sociological methods for assessing public policy. The collection includes nine decisions of regional and federal authorities, which received the highest marks from the competition committee. Among the winners are the Ministry of Finance, the Finance Committee of St. Petersburg, the Administration of the Head of the Republic of Buryatia and the Government of the Republic of Buryatia, the Ministry of Labor of the Novgorod Region and other authorities.

“The projects of the winners of the competition are important as examples of evidence-based policy and as an opportunity to discuss problems and obstacles to development. We hope that the Court of Accounts competition on evidence-based policy will become a platform for communication and exchange of experience in the application of research methods to find and implement effective solutions. The practice of such evidence-based solutions even at the very beginning of the journey, with its development more information will appear about the effect with which budget money is spent, "said Daria Tsyplakova, director of the methodology and research department of the Accounting Chamber, chairman of the competition commission.

Earlier, the head of the department, Alexei Kudrin, noted that the Accounts Chamber could become a driver for the development of evidence-based approaches. "We want to organize a platform for dialogue at all levels and outline public administration standards that are worth striving for and which are set by the best practices of the most powerful teams in the public service," Kudrin said.
