An armored vehicle taxi drove into the streets of the English town

A taxi driver from the English city of Norwich named Merlin Bachelor uses a real armored vehicle to transport customers, which has become a popular means of travel to various events.

"Taxi-tank", as the local media dubbed the unusual means of private taxi, roars through the streets of Norwich, taking guests to proms, weddings, funerals and other events. The cost of one trip for ten people in the womb of an American M113 armored personnel carrier converted for civilian needs is one thousand dollars. Its tracks are covered with thick rubber so as not to destroy the road surface.

At the same time, the owner spent about 35 thousand dollars on the purchase of the armored taxi itself and its repair. According to Bachelor, the purchase of the armored personnel carrier, which ended its military career, was made completely legally via the Internet. Indeed, on the first search engine issued to the corresponding request on the English site called tanks-alot.co.uk, you can find a dozen relevant offers for the sale of used armored vehicles. For example, the main battle tanks "Chieftain" that were in service with the army of the United Kingdom in the 1960-1970s are available for purchase at prices ranging from 18 to 50 thousand pounds, or newer tanks "Centurion" for 170 thousand pounds. Of course, all iron monsters are completely disarmed. Initially purchased by the enthusiast Merlin Bachelor for his own entertainment, the armored vehicles quickly attracted the attention of the taxi driver's friends and neighbors, who increasingly began to ask them for a ride.

How do you like that?

In Russia, you can't drive an armored vehicle on public roads. Our armored personnel carrier is a wheeled vehicle, but oversized - more than 2.5 meters wide.

Therefore, one can drive on the roads only with a special permit, which must be obtained from the traffic police.

The video with the English taxi driver shows that his armored personnel carrier is on tracks, so by our standards it is more likely an BMP (infantry fighting vehicle) or BMD (airborne combat vehicle). And with caterpillars on the Russian roads, exit is prohibited.

Of all our military armored vehicles, the Tiger is free to drive on public roads. But it also looks like a regular American Hummer. It needs an ordinary car license, but category "C". And from the unusual technology - BRDM (armored reconnaissance and patrol vehicle). This is also, in fact, a wheeled tractor, and it requires a tractor license, but category "C". However, in order to drive it onto public roads, you still have to tune it.

Namely, to put additional windows to provide visibility from the driver's seat of 120 degrees, equip with side lights and turn signals. Then, after being registered with Gostekhnadzor, you can drive up to the registry office in such a car.
