The Federation Council expressed bewilderment with the appointment of a Russophobe to the post of Minister of Kazakhstan

Russian Senator Sergei Tsekov, in conversation with the appointment of the Minister of Information of Kazakhstan Askar Umarov, who is known for harsh statements about the Russian people.

“Given his extremely outrageous Russophobic statements, this is a very wrong decision of the leadership of Kazakhstan. Such decisions will not lead to calm in Kazakhstan. I, as a Russian senator, express my bewilderment about this, we will certainly react, "said the member of the Federation Council.

At the same time, Tsekov believes that any Russian statements will not harm cooperation with the "friendly state."

“We can express our comments on personnel appointments in Kazakhstan. This is a man who openly insulted the Russian people and our history, spoke negatively about the Great Patriotic War. And I think that our cooperation through the relevant ministries will not be very trusting because of the past statements of Umarov, ”concluded Tsekov.

Umarov previously called Russians on social networks an "imposed diaspora", which should thank Kazakhstan for observing its rights and said that the Great Patriotic War was "alien" for the Kazakhs. In addition, Umarov continued to conduct anti-Russian rhetoric even after receiving high positions, saying that Kazakhstan was not allowed to carry out "decolonization of consciousness." The Kazinform agency under his leadership published a map of the “great Kazakhstan” with the Russian cities of Omsk and Orenburg.

Telegram channel Sputnik Near Abroad claims that Umarov is officially banned from entering Russia.

On January 11, the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev approved the composition of the new government of the republic. Former First Deputy Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov became the Prime Minister of the country.
