Vucic accused the West of sponsoring protests in Serbia

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said that environmental protests in the republic are sponsored by organizations from the West in the interests of his political opponents. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.

Mass environmental protests took place in Serbia on Saturdays. The protesters blocked highways and road junctions in dozens of settlements. The protests came after the adoption of a bill that allowed the Australian-British concern Rio Tinto to start mining lithium in the country. Activists believe that the agreement will harm the ecology of the republic and call for the abolition of the mining agreement.

“All their demands accepted by us are not enough reason for them to leave the street. You see that it is run by politicians who, of course, are fighting for the upcoming elections, which is legitimate, but it is illegitimate to tell me that you love this country more than I do, moreover, you are paid from abroad, and I did not receive a dinar from there Vucic said.

He noted that among the protesters there are those who sincerely worry about the state of the environment in Serbia.

Earlier, Vučić spoke about the increased pressure from the West on Serbia over the issue of Kosovo. According to the politician, the entire West expects Serbia to accept the independence of Kosovo.
