Ukraine announces dialogue with Turkey to counter Russia

The Ukrainian authorities are negotiating with Turkey regarding joint efforts to ensure security in the Black Sea. Igor Zhovkva, deputy head of the office of the President of Ukraine, announced this on the air of Ukrainian Radio, RIA Novosti reports.

According to him, the Black Sea is an important region for Ukraine, where Kiev needs to counter the efforts of Russia, which is also a Black Sea power.

“And we should also talk about this with NATO members. Because for them it is also a priority region,” he said.

Earlier, Bloomberg, citing a Turkish official, reported that Turkey was not interested in going to war with Russia over Ukraine in the event of a military conflict. According to the source of the agency, Turkey will not help Kiev, although it is a member of NATO and is actively developing military cooperation with Ukraine, supplying it with Bayraktar drones.

He stressed that Ankara does not coordinate its foreign policy with Washington, but acts independently, protecting its national interests.
